The Purpose of Community Action Agencies

Community action agencies (CAAs) meet the needs of low income individuals in their communities. Built in a way that allows them to respond to the unique needs of their community, no two CAAs are alike, but they do share common goals. The programs offer help and encourage children and youth, support the working poor, provide aid in times of crisis, sustain and honor the elderly, and strengthen the family and the community. Practically speaking, this means utility and rent assistance, food resources, clothing, neighborhood revitalization, job training and more.
