CPCA Accepting Applications for Housing Assistance Program

CLEARFIELD – Central Pennsylvania Community Action is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for rental, utility and mortgage assistance through the 2018-19 Housing Assistance Program [HAP].

This program, funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, through Clearfield County, serves to assist qualified applicants who are having difficulty making monthly rent payments, utility payments or mortgage payments.

On Aug. 20, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act, which created a variety of programs, including Community Action agencies, as part of his War on Poverty.

“He knew then as we know now that the war against poverty must be won in the field, in every private home [and] in every public office, from the courthouse to the White House,” said Susan Hawthorne, executive director of Central Pennsylvania Community Action.

Northwest to Partner with CPCA to Rehabilitate 8 Homes in Curwensville Area

CURWENSVILLE – Eight Curwensville area homeowners started off 2017 with some good news.

Thanks in part to a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank and a partnership between Northwest Bank and Central Pennsylvania Community Action (CPCA), their homes will be rehabilitated.
